Hansen, Pirates Sweep Temple for Classic Crown

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - Senior Amanda Hansen (Pewaukee, Wis.) tallied a team-high 12 kills as the Seton Hall women's volleyball team swept Temple, 3-0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-19), on Saturday to win the Seton Hall Classic.
Hansen also recorded an impressive .409 attack percentage and was one of three Pirates named to the All-Tournament Team.
Playing before another sizeable Walsh Gym crowd, Seton Hall (4-2) put together another strong team-wide effort to claim its second straight Seton Hall Classic title and push its win streak to three matches.
Turning Point:
Late in the second set, Temple was just five points away from tying up the match, clinging to a 20-19 lead. The Pirates however, scored six of the final eight points to win set two, 25-22, and take a commanding two-set match lead. A kill by Cherise Hennigan (Corona, Calif.) put The Hall in set point, and another by Grace Forren (La Jolla, Calif.) clinched the set win.
Numbers & Notes:
- The Pirates had three players land on the Seton Hall Classic All-Tournament Team, Hansen, Forren and Hennigan.
- Freshman Abby Thelen (Ft. Mitchell, Ky.) had the best match of her young collegiate career vs. Temple. She finished with a career-high 10 kills and seven blocks to go with a match-high .643 attack percentage.
- Forren finished two kills shy of her third straight double-double. She had eight kills and a career-high 12 digs.
- Freshman Sophia Coffey (Sierra Madre, Calif.) finished with a match-high 45 assists and six digs.
Next Up:
Seton Hall will return to action next weekend for three matches of the Louisville Invitational. The Pirates will face Ohio Friday and then both host Louisville and Utah on Saturday.
