CINCINNATI, OHIO – Sophomore Abby Thelen (Ft. Mitchell, Ky.) matched a career-high with 20 kills, but the Seton Hall women's volleyball team lost to Xavier in four sets, 3-1 (16-25, 17-25, 25-23, 18-25), on Friday.

Seton Hall (10-13, 4-6) never led in set one as Xavier recorded a .500 attack percentage. A Thelen kill pulled the Pirates to within four at 19-15, but the Musketeers finished the set on a 6-1 run for a 25-16 set one victory.

Freshman Madison Salkowski (Cold Springs, Ky.) scored the first point of the second set for Seton Hall, but it would be the only lead for the Pirates. With the Musketeers ahead 8-6, they scored seven of the next nine points to take a commanding 15-8 advantage. From there, The Hall was unable to cut the lead to less than five points in route to a 25-17 second set win for Xavier.

Xavier led for the majority of set three, but the Pirates rallied late. With the Musketeers ahead 18-15, Seton Hall scored four straight to take a 19-18 lead. After four more ties late in the set, the Pirates took control, and won set three, 25-23. The Hall connected on a team-high .333 attack percentage during the set three win.

The Pirates however, couldn't keep the positive momentum going, fell behind early in set four, and didn't recover. Blocks by Haylee Gasser (Mission Viejo, Calif.) and Danielle Schroeder (Chicago, Ill.) tied the set at 16, but Xavier scored four straight to take a 20-16 advantage, and ultimately won the set, 25-18.

Inside the Numbers:

Thelen had eight digs to go with her match-high 20 kills.
Junior Dominique Mason (Chicago, Ill.) recorded a career-high 15 kills to go with four digs and a .333 attack percentage.
Schroeder finished with 10 kills
Sophomore Sophia Coffey (Sierra Madre, Calif.) finished with a team-high 25 assists to go with three digs.
Senior Tessa Fournier (Redondo Beach, Calif.) had a match-high 14 digs to go with four assists.

News & Notes:

Thelen has recorded at least 15 kills in a single match a team-best six times this season.
The Pirates falls to 2-6 all-time against Xavier.
Seton Hall drops to 4-7 on the road in 2016.
Seton Hall falls to 4-5 in four-set matches this season.
