Yip, Nagai Lead Pirates to Eighth Place at Marquette

RIVER HILLS, WIS. – Junior Linus Yip (Sydney, Australia) fired a 1-under-par, 69, in Monday's final round to lead the Seton Hall men's golf team to an eighth place finish at the Marquette Intercollegiate.

Yip was impressive throughout the three-round tournament and finished tied for 20th among 66 individual golfers with a 3-over-par, 72-72-69-213.

Collectively, the Pirates shaved three strokes off their second round score to register a 10-over-par, 290, on Monday. For the tournament, Seton Hall finished 37-over-par with a 294-293-290-877. Northwestern won the title and was the only team to shoot under par for the tournament at 4-under. Seton Hall's lone BIG EAST competition, Marquette, finished sixth, 15 strokes better than the Pirates.

The top Pirate finisher for the tournament was Gen Nagai (Mandaue Cebu City, Philippines), who was only 1-over-par on Monday. The sophomore finished the tournament tied for seventh with an even-par, 69-70-71-210. It's Nagai's third career top-10 finish. Northwestern's Ryan Lumsden won the individual title, finishing just three strokes ahead of Nagai.

Chris Yeom (Flushing, N.Y.) recorded his second straight 3-over-par, 73, in Monday's final round. For the three-round event, he finished 14-over-par with a 78-73-73-224.

Freshman Alex Chalk (Castle Douglas, Scotland) finished his tournament at 21-over-par with a 75-79-77-231, while teammate Kevin O'Brien (Wexford, Pa.) rounded out the Pirates' team scoring with a 27-over-par, 82-78-77-237.

Making his collegiate debut, freshman Alex McAuley (Douglas, Isle of Man) totaled a XX-over-par with a 78-78-76-232, while competing as an individual.

The Course:
Milwaukee Country Club was formed in 1894 and the original course opened in 1896. In 1911, the club moved to its present site in River Hills. In 1929, the existing course, designed by Harry Colt and Charles Alison, opened. In 1974, Robert Trent Jones Sr. served as a consultant for minor revisions to the course.

In addition to Seton Hall and host Marquette, the small, but very talented field was comprised of eight other teams including: Liberty, Mississippi, Northern Illinois, Northwestern, Southern Methodist, UCLA, Valparaiso and Wisconsin. Individuals from Marquette and Wisconsin comprised a "B" team for their respective institutions as well.
