Hilaire And Jackson Earn BIG EAST Honor Roll Nods

NEW YORK – Following a strong close to non-conference play, two members of the Seton Hall women's basketball team have been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor roll, the league announced on Monday (Dec. 19). Both Kaela Hilaire (Floral Park, N.Y.) and JaQuan Jackson (Killeen, Texas) picked up the weekly nod from the conference after the Pirates notched an 89-81 over Rider on Sunday.
Hilaire and Jackson tied for the team-high with 19 points on Friday, helping The Hall notch their highest scoring output of the season. Hilaire is on the honor roll for the second time and also picked up a Freshman of the Week honor on Nov. 28, while Jackson becomes the sixth different Pirate to notch a weekly laurel from the conference this season. The six different honorees for The Hall are the most for any team in the conference, with no other squad recording more than three on the year.
After going for a team-high four assists on Dec. 13 at Rutgers, Hilaire poured in 19 points and dished out five assists against the Broncs on Sunday. The freshman finished with a sterling 13-for-15 mark from the free throw line vs. Rider and also added three steals on the week. Overall this year she ranks top-20 in the BIG EAST with 11.5 points per game and is second in the conference in both assists (4.9/g) and steals (2.9/g).
Jackson led the Pirates in scoring with 21 points at Rutgers and then went for 19 against Rider, adding 4.5 rebounds and 3.0 steals per game over the 1-1 week. In the two contests she finished 6-for-12 from 3-point range and 8-for-10 from the charity stripe. Overall this season Jackson is scoring 17.1 points per game, which is good for second in the conference.
The Pirates return to action on Friday, Dec. 30 to open BIG EAST play against rival St. John's at Walsh Gym. Tickets for the nationally-televised contest are available for as low as $1 at the Seton Hall box office or by calling 973-761-HALL.
