Gordon Has Career Day In Setback At Villanova

VILLANOVA, Pa. – Despite a career-high 20 points from Lubirdia Gordon (Mount Vernon, N.Y.), the Seton Hall women's basketball team (8-9, 1-5 BIG EAST) dropped a 69-52 decision at Villanova (7-9, 3-3 BIG EAST) on Friday morning at The Pavilion.
The Pirates went down eight after a quarter and 12 at the break, but battled back with a strong third quarter and pulled within seven late in the fourth. The Wildcats knocked down 14 shots from 3-point range in the contest, getting 22 points and seven triples from Adrianna Han and 20 points from Alex Louin. In support of Gordon, Kaela Hilaire (Floral Park, N.Y.) scored 15 points and dished out four assists for the Pirates.
Turning Point
After a corner 3-pointer from JaQuan Jackson midway through the fourth, the Pirates cut what was a 12-point halftime deficit to single-digits at 57-50 with 3:27 to play. The Wildcats were able to answer, knocking down 3-pointers on back-to-back possession to swell the lead back to double-digits, where it remained the rest of the way.
Inside The Numbers
- The Pirates held Villanova to 34.5 percent shooting from the floor, but VU knocked down 14-of-37 (37.8 percent) from 3-point range
- Conversely, The Hall shot 37.5 percent from the floor and 26.7 percent from distance
- VU held a 45-26 edge on the glass, with Gordon leading The Hall with seven rebounds
- The two squads combined for only 21 turnovers, with SHU committing 11
- The Pirates held a 7-6 edge in steals and a 4-3 advantage in blocks

- Gordon scored in double-figures for the second-straight game and 10th time in her career

The Pirates conclude a two-game road swing on Sunday afternoon, traveling to Georgetown to take on the Hoyas. Tip off is set for 2 p.m. at McDonough Arena.
