Pirates Open Spring Slate Saturday at NJIT

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – The Seton Hall women's tennis team resumes its 2016-17 season with a 9 a.m. match at NJIT on Saturday, Jan. 21. It is the team's first competition since late October when it participated in the ITA Championship in New Haven, Conn.

Junior Katie Kim (Honolulu, Hawaii) won a singles championship and partnered with sophomore Thandy Kangwa (Fort Myers, Fla.) for a doubles title at the West Point Invite during the fall season. Kim heads into the spring with an impressive 6-1 singles record.

Junior Luize Strike (Riga, Latvia) is 5-3 during singles play and is looking forward to competing in BIG EAST action this spring following intense and focused training during the team's mid-season break.

Freshman Krista Cerpina (Riga, Latvia) won the F Singles Championship at West Point, while sophomore Anna Fajnorova (Bratislava, Slovakia) has a 2-1 singles record and is furthermore 2-1 in doubles play with Strike.

The Pirates will compete in 18 dual matches this spring including five conference affairs and will conclude their season at the BIG EAST Championships April 27-30 in Columbia, S.C.
