
Seton Hall Mourns Passing of Charles Lorenzo

The Seton Hall Department of Athletics is saddened to learn of the passing of Charles Lorenzo '57, a three-year letterwinner for the men's basketball team and a 1979 inductee into the Seton Hall Athletics Hall of Fame. He was 82.
Lorenzo is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Jane, and his sons, Chuck (Patti), Jay (Deborah) of Brielle, and Ken (Susan) and his daughter, Maryrose DeVincens. He also leaves his grandchildren, Stephen, Janie, Jacqueline, Jason, Alec, Sam, Jake, Katelyn, and Christopher. Also surviving are his brother, Vincent Lorenzo Sr., along with his children, Vincent Jr. and Judith Doran.
Lorenzo was a member of the Pirates varsity basketball squad from 1954-57 and was part of teams that qualified for the NIT in all three seasons. In those three years, the Pirates accumulated a 54-24 record. Lorenzo averaged 10.3 points in 75 career games, including a career-best 13.0 points during the 1956-57 season.
In 1979, Lorenzo was the 26th men's basketball student-athlete inducted into the Seton Hall Athletics Hall of Fame.Â
In addition to being a star at Seton Hall University, Lorenzo was a prominent player at Seton Hall Prep, where a gym bears his name as the "Charlie Lorenzo Training Facility."
