Pirates Start 2017-18 Ranked No. 23 in Coaches Poll

The Seton Hall men's basketball team will start the 2017-18 ranked No. 23 in the nation after the USA Today Coaches Poll revealed its preseason top 25 on Thursday.
The Pirates were last nationally ranked on March 14, 2016, when the Pirates were No. 20 in the Associated Press top 25 and No. 21 in the USA Today Coaches top 25 coming off their 2016 BIG EAST Tournament championship. Seton Hall has been ranked in the Coaches Poll 54 times since USA Today began administering the poll in 1991.
This is also the first preseason ranking for Seton Hall since being ranked No. 10 in both the Associated Press and USA Today Coaches top 25s at the start of the 2000-01 season.
The Associated Press preseason top 25 is due out at the end of the month.
Seton Hall has been a consensus preseason top 25 team all summer and fall as the Pirates return 90 percent of their scoring and rebounding from last season's team that won 21 games, was a BIG EAST Tournament semifinalist and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for a second straight season. Led by eighth-year head coach Kevin Willard, the Pirates are buoyed by an incredible senior class that has the only active trio of 1,000 point scorers in NCAA Div. I in Khadeen Carrington (Brooklyn, N.Y.), Angel Delgado (Bajos De Haina, Dominican Republic) and Desi Rodriguez (Bronx, N.Y.). All three were preseason All-BIG EAST selections, and Delgado has been mentioned as an All-America candidate by numerous outlets.
The Pirates begin the season on Friday, Nov. 10 against Fairleigh Dickinson at Prudential Center. Season tickets are still available through the ticket office and online.
