
Seton Hall Drops Match at No. 16 Creighton

OMAHA, NEB. – The Seton Hall women's volleyball team lost in three sets to No. 16 Creighton, 3-0 (19-25, 17-25, 11-25), on Sunday to snap a three-match win streak.
SET 1:
Seton Hall got started quickly in set one, and a kill by senior Dominique Mason (Chicago, Ill.) gave it an early 8-5 lead. Creighton battled back however, and took a 12-11 advantage. From there, the set remained close until the Bluejays took control late. Leading 19-18, Creighton ended the set with a 6-1 run to claim the first frame, 25-19. Junior Abby Thelen (Ft. Mitchell, Ky.) had five kills in the first set to lead The Hall.
SET 2:
The Pirates never led in the second set, but kept the score relatively close and a kill by Thelen cut the Bluejay lead to 11-8. Creighton responded however, with a 7-1 run to take a commanding 18-9 advantage. The Bluejays went on to win the second set, 25-17. The Pirates had an impressive .351 attack percentage in the second set, but Creighton connected at a .474 clip.
SET 3:
Creighton dominated the final set of the match as it completed the match victory with a 25-11 third set win. A Bluejay service error gave The Hall a brief 3-2 lead, but Creighton then went on a 7-1 run to take a 9-4 advantage. Already leading 12-7, Creighton burst for an 11-2 run to put the set out of reach.

The Pirates will return to action on Friday, Oct. 26 when they return to Walsh Gym to host BIG EAST rival DePaul. Match time is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. ET.

- The Hall had 34 team kills, while Creighton had 51.
- The Pirates totaled 37 team digs, while Creighton had 46.
