10/23/2017 9:23:00 PM | Men's Golf
LITTLE ROCK, ARK. – Junior Chris Yeom (Flushing, N.Y.) is currently 1-under-par through two rounds of the 2017 Little Rock Invitational and has led the Seton Hall men's golf team to a ninth place team standing entering Tuesday's final round.
Â
Yeom continued his brilliant fall season with two more sparkling rounds on Monday. He started out with a 1-over-par, 73, and followed it up with a 1-under-par, 71. In his second round, he shot par or better over in each of his final eight holes. For the tournament, Yeom is tied for 11th place among 66 individual golfers with an even-par, 73-71-144. Little Rock's Aaron Ramos leads the individual field at 6-under-par.
Â
Collectively, the Pirates were significantly better in the afternoon. The Hall shot a 16-over-par, 304, in the first round, but shaved 11 strokes off in round two to settle with a 5-over-par, 293. For two rounds, the Pirates are 21-over-par with a 304-293-597, and trail the team leader, Little Rock by 16 strokes. However, as high as a third place finish is within only nine strokes.
Â
The top Pirate performer for the second round was junior Gen Nagai (Mandaue Cebu City, Philippines). Nagai improved 11 strokes from round one to round two, and finished with a 4-under-par, 68, in the afternoon. He had seven birdies in the round, and could have shot as low as a 66 if not for a double-bogey on the par-4, third hole. Through two rounds, Nagai is tied for 18th place with a 3-over-par, 79-68-147.
Â
Senior Linus Yip (Sydney, Australia) had a sparkling first round, shooting an even-par, 72, but struggled in the afternoon, finishing with an 80. Through two rounds, he is 8-over-par with a 72-80-152.Â
Â
Sophomore Alex Chalk (Castle Douglas, Scotland) was another Pirate competitor to make a big jump in today's second round. Chalk improved six strokes to finish with a 2-over-par, 74. He had five birdies on the round. For the event, he's 10-over-par with an 80-74-154.Â
Â
Freshman Gregor Tait (Martlesham Heath, England) shot an 11-over-par, 83, in the first round, but was disqualified in the second round.
Â
Two Pirates are currently competing as individuals. Freshman Andres Acevedo (San Antonio, Texas) is 9-over-par with a 75-78-153, while sophomore Alex McAuley (Douglas, Isle of Man) is 12-over-par with a 78-78-156.
