Pirates to Start 2017-18 Ranked No. 23 in AP Top 25

NEW YORK - The 2017-18 Seton Hall men's basketball team will start a season ranked in the Associated Press top 25 for the first time since 2000-01, placing No. 23 in the preseason poll, the AP announced Wednesday.
The Pirates continue to receive national attention as the season draws near; they have been a consensus preseason top 25 since the summer began and return 90 percent of their scoring and rebounding from last season's team, including All-America and National Player of the Year candidate Angel Delgado (Bajos De Haina, Dominican Republic) and preseason All-BIG EAST honorees Khadeen Carrington (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Desi Rodriguez (Bronx, N.Y.). The season will begin on Friday, Nov. 10, when the Pirates host Fairleigh Dickinson at Prudential Center at 6:30 p.m., as part of the NIT Season Tip-Off.
Some notes on Seton Hall's No. 23 ranking:
- This is Seton Hall's 101st all-time weekly ranking and first since finishing the 2015-16 season at No. 20
- This is the fourth time Seton Hall has been ranked in the preseason top 25
- 2000-01: No. 10
- 1992-93: No. 6
- 1991-92: No. 9
- Of the 101 all-time rankings, this is only the second time Seton Hall has ever been placed at No. 23
