Newark, N.J. – Senior Khadeen Carrington (Brooklyn, N.Y.) scored a season-high 26 points and Angel Delgado (Bajos De Haina, Dominican Republic) added a double-double as the No. 23 Seton Hall men's basketball team defeated Wagner, 89-68, Wednesday night at Prudential Center to improve to 10-2 on the season.
Carrington was a perfect 6-for-6 from three-point range, setting a new Seton Hall single-game record for most three-pointers made without missing. He also added three rebounds and three assists. Delgado finished with 15 points, a game-high 10 rebounds and five assists in only 21 minutes for his eighth double-double of the season. Turning Point
Seton Hall wasted little time in racing out to a sizable advantage to start the game. Ahead 6-4, the Pirates scored eight unanswered points, highlighted by three-pointers from Powell and Carrington on back-to-back possessions, to take a 14-4 lead less than four minutes into the game. Carrington continued his torrid start nailing down two more three-pointers before his three-point play put the Pirates in front, 25-12, with 11:11 left before halftime.
With 7:40 remaining before the break, Delgado grabbed a rebound and unleashed a long pass down court to a streaking freshman Sandro Mamukelashvili (Tbilisi, Georgia) for an uncontested dunk to put The Hall up, 36-22, matching its largest lead of the half.
The Hall took a 48-34 lead into halftime on the strength of 54.5% shooting from the floor, including 6-for-9 from three-point range.
After the break, Wagner went on a 9-1 run to cut the Seton Hall lead to nine points, 52-43, but soon thereafter the Pirates responded with a 7-1 run of their own to put them up by a comfortable margin again.
