Michael Nzei Named to NABC Honors Court

Kansas City, Mo. -Â Junior Michael Nzei (Makurdi, Nigeria) of the Seton Hall men's basketball team has been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches Honors Court, which recognizes men's collegiate basketball student-athletes who excelled in academics during the past season, the organization announced Tuesday.
In order to qualify for the Honors Court, a student-athlete must be a junior or senior academically, must possession a cumulative grade-point average of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2016-17 academic year and must have matriculated at least one year at his current institution.
Nzei, who is majoring in Economics here at Seton Hall, is one of 12 student-athletes from the BIG EAST Conference recognized on the Honors Court. He has been a very consistent student in the classroom; he is a four-time member of the Seton Hall Dean's List and a three-time member of the BIG EAST All-Academic team. He also was inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society this past April.
Nzei's academic performance is representative of an overall outstanding academic effort by the men's basketball team under head coach Kevin Willard's leadership. The team currently possesses a 3.004 cumulative GPA and posted a 3.026 GPA during the 2016-17 academic year. The team has achieved perfect 1000 multi-year APR scores in each of the last two years and has earned the NCAA's Public Recognition Award. Last week, the team earned the NABC's Team Academic Excellence Award.
