WILLIAMSBURG, VA. – Sophomore Lizzie Win (Sylvania, Ohio) shot a team-best even-par, 72, on Monday to help lead the Seton Hall women's golf team to a third place team finish at the 2017 William & Mary Invitational.
Win had five birdies in round three to record her second even-par score of the tournament. For the entirety of the event, she placed seventh with a career-lowest 7-over-par, 72-79-72-223. Her top-10 finish is the fifth of her young career.
Collectively, the Pirates shot a 12-over-par, 300, in round three and finished the tournament at 28-over-par with a 296-296-300-892. The Hall finished in third place just two strokes behind UNC-Wilmington and only four strokes behind the team champion, Penn State. The Pirates' lone BIG EAST competition, Xavier, finished sixth at 56-over-par.
The Pirates' top competitor for the tournament was Maddie Sager (Phoenixville, Pa.). The sophomore was the individual leader in the clubhouse following two rounds, but fell to sixth place after a 6-over-par, 78, in round three. Her effort was still impressive enough to notch her third career top-10 finish. Sager finished with a 6-over-par, 74-70-78-222.
Senior Cassie Pantelas (Canton, Ohio) finished only one stroke behind Win with an 8-over-par, 74-76-74-224. She tied for eighth place among 67 individual golfers, her 10th career top-10 finish, which ranks fourth-most in program history.
Newcomer Mia Kness (Venetia, Pa.) was consistent throughout the tournament and finished with an 11-over-par, 76-75-76-227. The freshman tied for 13th place overall in her first collegiate event.
Rounding out the Pirate scoring was sophomore Sammie Staudt (Coatesville, Pa.), who finished with a 21-over-par, 82-75-80-237.
