Meet Champion Jake Simon Leads Pirates at Monmouth

Lincroft, N.J. – Senior captain Jake Simon (Freehold, N.J.) was the individual champion at the Monmouth Kick-Off Meet on Saturday and led 11 different Pirates in the Top-40 as the Seton Hall men's cross country team placed second out of seven teams.

Simon completed the 6K course in 19:04.4 and out-ran the five Monmouth Hawks that finished directly behind him. Sophomore Jesse Southard (Gorham, Maine) impressed with a 19:18.8 run to earn ninth place.

Junior Jarod Moser (Duncanville, Texas) and senior Jeff Larson (Yucca Valley, Calif.) finished 12th and 13th with respective times of 19:26.3 and 19:44.9. Making his collegiate debut, freshman Brandon Guerrera (Farmingville, N.Y.) ran an impressive 19:50.2 to place 16th.

Looking ahead, the Pirates are back at it on Saturday, Sept. 9 when they compete at Stony Brook.
