Cold Shooting Second Half Dooms The Hall at Butler

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Seton Hall women's basketball team (9-7, 1-4 BIG EAST) was plagued by an ice-cold shooting second half and fell at Butler (11-5, 3-1 BIG EAST) on Sunday afternoon at Hinkle Fieldhouse. JaQuan Jackson (Killeen, Texas) was the lone Pirate in double-figures with 10 points in the setback.

The Pirates and Bulldogs traded leads in a tight first half, with a pair of late 3-pointers from Jackson and Inja Butina (Zagreb, Croatia) giving the Pirates a 30-26 lead at the break. The second half wasn't as kind to The Hall, as the Pirates managed only 18 points in the third and fourth quarters. Feeling the effects of their fifth game in 11 days to start league play, The Hall finished 5-for-28 (17.9 percent) from the floor in the second half.

Turning Point
Up four going into the third quarter, The Hall maintained that advantage with a Shadeen Samuels (Ossining, N.Y.) basket at 5:52 of the third to go up 36-32. The Bulldogs responded emphatically by reeling off a 16-2 run over the final nearly six minutes of the frame to take a 48-38 lead to the fourth quarter. The double-digit lead proved too steep for The Hall to overcome in the fourth in what totaled a 40-18 edge for BU in the second half.
