Lincoln, Neb. - Junior Myles Powell (Trenton, N.J.) scored 24 points, and senior Michael Nzei (Makurdi, Nigeria) added 13 points and grabbed nine rebounds, but the Seton Hall men's basketball team struggled with long distance shooting as the Pirates fell to Nebraska, 80-57, Wednesday night in a Gavitt Tip-Off Games matchup at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
Powell notched his second straight game of at least 20 points after pouring in 30 in the regular season opener last week.Â
James Palmer led Nebraska with 29 points.
Turning Point
The Pirates trailed by six to start the second half, but the Pirates hung in and engineered a 6-0 run that culminated with an Nzei layup to bring the Pirates to within two, 44-42, with 13:32 remaining. Â
Nebraska immediately responded with Palmer knocking down a three-pointer before freshman Anthony Nelson (New York, N.Y.) made a layup to bring it back to three, 47-44.
Again the Cornhuskers answered with an Isaac Copeland jumper, and this time it sparked 10-2 run to push the Cornhusker lead to 11, 57-46. Seton Hall was only able to post 11 points in the final nine minutes of the game.
