
Pantelas, Win, Kness Net All-Tourney; Pirates 2nd

CALLAWASSIE ISLAND, S.C. – Senior Cassie Pantelas (Canton, Ohio), sophomore Lizzie Win (Sylvania, Ohio) and freshman Mia Kness (Venetia, Pa.) all tied for fourth place, and therefore were named to the All-Tournament Team, and lifted the Seton Hall women's golf team to a second place finish at the 2018 BIG EAST Championship.
Pantelas had an up-and-down final round, finishing her emotional afternoon with a 7-over-par, 79. Her fourth place tie is her third top-5 finish at the BIG EAST Championship. For the tournament, she finished with a 14-over-par, 76-75-79-230.
Win had some difficulty on the front nine, but was excellent on the back. She had only one bogey over her final 10 holes with nine pars. Win finished with a 5-over-par, 77, in round three. For the three-rounds, she tallied a 14-over-par, 80-73-77-230.
Kness' round was opposite of Win. Her success came on the front nine as she was 1-under-par through 10 holes. Kness had birdies on holes No. 3 and No. 6 in route to a 4-over-par, 76. She too was 14-over-par for the tournament with an 80-74-76-230.
Although the Pirates cut into Georgetown's lead in round two, the Hoyas shot another sub-300 round on Sunday, and built their lead back up to win the team championship by 20 strokes. The Hall tied Butler for having the second-best final round with a 19-over-par, 307. For the three-round event, Seton Hall shot a 59-over-par, 314-302-307-923. The Pirates placed second by 15 strokes over third place Xavier.
The top Pirate performer of the round was Maddie Sager (Phoenixville, Pa.). The sophomore's round got off to a rocky start, but she had the best back nine of any Pirate during the tournament. Sager didn't have a single blemish on her back nine, in fact, she was 1-under par over her final 13 holes. For the round, she shot a team-best 3-over-par, 75. For the tournament, she placed 14th with a 22-over-par, 83-80-75-238.
Sammie Staudt (Coatesville, Pa.) also had difficulty early in her round, but bounced back nicely. The sophomore shot 3-over-par over her final 13 holes to finish the round with a 7-over-par, 79. For the tournament, she was only one stroke behind Sager, tying for 15th place with a 23-over-par, 78-82-79-239.

Six team, 54-hole, stroke play Championship. Teams compete in groups of three. The event was conducted over four days with each team's five members playing a practice round of 18 holes on day one, one 18-hole round on days two, three and four.
The Course:
The club features three nine-hole courses. The competition will play the first nine holes on the Dogwood Course and the second nine on the Magnolia Course. Designing Callawassie Island's award-winning championship 27-hole course, Tom Fazio took advantage of the island's natural beauty to create a juxtaposition of visual drama and superb playability. Magnificent live oaks and magnolias, as well as freshwater ponds and the surrounding saltwater marsh, come into play on most holes. Inspiring vistas and abundant wildlife make nature part of the golf experience.

For the BIG EAST Championship, the field was limited to only the six women's golf teams of the conference. This includes (in order of Golfstat ranking): Georgetown, Seton Hall, Xavier, Butler, St. John's and Creighton.
