SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Head coach Anthony Bozzella and the Seton Hall women's basketball program have rounded out the 2018-19 roster with a pair of high-major transfers. The Hall will welcome guards Diandra DaRosa (Pawtucket, R.I.) by way of Virginia Tech and Barbara Johnson (Toronto, Ontario) from Ole Miss. DaRosa will compete immediately as a graduate transfer in '18-19, while Johnson is expected to sit out the upcoming campaign and have one year of eligibility remaining.
"These two guards will add veteran leadership, toughness and skill to our backcourt," Bozzella said. "I am excited to have Diandra on the court this upcoming season and have Barbara push our guards every day in practice. They are both exemplary student-athletes who succeed in the classroom as well as on the court."
DaRosa is a 5'6 guard who spent the last two seasons at Virginia Tech after beginning her collegiate career ASA College. She did not see game action in 2017-18 with the Hokies due to an injury. During the 2016-17 campaign, she played in 13 contests and averaged 2.7 points, 0.8 rebounds and 0.5 assists in 8.2 minutes per game. Prior to joining the Hokies, she averaged 14.1 points, 5.4 assists and 3.6 rebounds per game for an NJCAA Tournament team at ASA in 2015-16.
Johnson was a member of Ole Miss for the 2017-18 season after two years at Chipola College. She made 31 appearances for the Rebels in '17-18, averaging 3.8 points and 1.2 rebounds per game in 12.6 minutes a night. Johnson scored in double-figures during both seasons at Chipola and was a First Team All-Conference selection as a sophomore. She also brings international experience to The Hall, as she was a member of the Canadian Junior National Team at the 2014 FIBA Americas U18 Championship. The 5'9 guard appeared in four contests at the tournament to help Canada place second.
The duo join an incoming crop of Pirates for the 2018-19 season that includes freshmen Femi Funeus, Whitney Howell and Danielle Robinson along with sit-out transfer Alexis Lewis.
