SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - Head coach Paige Smith and Seton Hall softball announced on Monday (Aug. 27) that Daniel Nicolaisen has been elevated to an assistant coach for The Hall. Nicolaisen spent the 2018 season as the volunteer assistant for the Pirates.Â
"We are excited to bring Daniel back in a more prominent role," Smith said. ""Daniel is always learning, tinkering and experimenting with both new and old methods. He is determined to stay on the cutting edge of softball. He motivates anyone he has contact with and understands that coaching is so much more than what we do on the field," the seventh-year Pirate head coach added.Â
Last year in his role as a volunteer assistant Nicolaisen assisted the coaching staff with video breakdown, scouting and overall game plan efforts. In his new role, he will serve as The Hall's hitting coach, recruiting coordinator and outfielder coach.Â
Prior to joining the staff in South Orange, Nicolaisen was a Softball School Instructor at the Danish Softball Federation in his native country of Denmark. He also served as a Head Coach for Jersey Shore Diamond Crush Softball and Jersey Intensity Softball. Nicolaisen also spent time as the Director of Softball Operations and Head Coach of Mavs Performance Institute.
A former varsity baseball athlete, Nicolaisen earned a degree in business administration from Neumann University in December of 2016.
