
Yeom, Nagai Power Pirates in Round One at Hartford

SOUTH KENT, CONN. – Seniors Chris Yeom (Flushing, N.Y.) and Gen Nagai (Mandaue Cebu City, Philippines) each shot under par on Monday, and the Seton Hall men's golf team is currently in fourth place following the first round of the 2018 Hartford Hawks Invitational.
The field was originally scheduled to play 36 holes on Monday, but play was interrupted in the second round due to darkness. They're scheduled to complete the second round tomorrow, before beginning round three.
Yeom fired a 5-under-par, 67, in today's first round, and is currently tied for fifth place among a large field of 110 individual golfers. Nagai shot a 3-under-par, 69, and is tied for 12th. The individual lead is currently shared by four golfers at 6-under-par.
As a team, the Pirates shot an impressive 6-under-par, 282, which is tied for the fifth-lowest par-72 single-round score in Seton Hall history. The Hall trails the team leader, Central Florida, by eight strokes entering Tuesday. Connecticut (-13), Rhode Island (-7) and Cal Poly (-3) are also currently under par.
Fresh off a fourth place finish in his first collegiate tournament, freshman Deven Ramachandran (San Rafael, Calif.) fired another strong round, a 1-over-par, 73. Among others, he is tied with teammate Alex Chalk (Castle Douglas, Scotland) for 30th place overall.
Sophomore Andres Acevedo (San Antonio, Texas) shot a 7-over-par, 79, in round one to round out the Pirate starters.
Competing as an individual, sophomore Gregor Tait (Martlesham Heath, England) shot a 3-over-par, 75, in the first round.

Tee Times:
The field will play two continuous rounds on Monday with a shotgun start beginning at 8:00 a.m. A final 18 holes will be played on Tuesday with also an 8:00 a.m. shotgun start.
