
Ronchel, Win Power Pirates at Princeton Round One

PRINCETON, N.J. – Juniors Carolina Ronchel Salas (Huelva, Spain) and Lizzie Win (Sylvania, Ohio) each fired a 3-over-par, 75, on Saturday to lead the Seton Hall women's golf team to a seventh place team standing after round one of the Princeton Invitational.
Both Pirates used a trio of birdies to power their strong rounds and are tied for 17th place overall. Win was only 1-over-par on the front nine, while Ronchel Salas was only 1-over-par on the back nine. Georgetown's Christina Parsells is the individual leader after a 5-under-par first round.
As a team, the Pirates shot a 19-over-par, 307, in round one. They trail the team leader, Penn State by 13 strokes. Fellow BIG EAST competitor Georgetown is in second place at 9-over-par.
Freshman Sarah Fouratt (Pasadena, Calif.) shot a 6-over-par, 78, in round one and is currently tied for 34th place overall.
Both junior Sammie Staudt (Coatesville, Pa.) and sophomore Mia Kness (Venetia, Pa.) shot a 7-over-par, 79. Staudt's round was bolstered by an eagle on the par-5, third hole, while Kness had back-to-back birdies on holes No. 3 and No. 4.
Junior Maddie Sager (Phoenixville, Pa.) and freshman Maria Contreras Luna (Estepona, Spain) are also both competing at the Princeton Invitational, but as individuals. Sager is currently tied with both Staudt and Kness after a 7-over-par, 79. Contreras Luna, seeing her first collegiate action, shot a 22-over-par, 94, in round one.

Dating back to 1895, Springdale Golf Club is one of the oldest in New Jersey. Designed by Gerard Lambert and revised by William Flynn in 1926, the walkable course requires precision shot-making and has superior conditions and playability. The property, which was originally private farmland, was purchased by the Class of 1886 and gifted to Princeton University with the expectation of establishing one of the first courses in the region. The private club has a close relationship with the University, and counts many university professors, administrators and students among its members. With a fine and experienced PGA staff, the club hosts numerous tournaments, collegiate matches, clinics and golf outings every year.
The Field:
In addition to Seton Hall and host Princeton, the field is comprised of 10 other teams including: Columbia, Dartmouth, Harvard, Navy, Penn, Penn State, Rollins, Yale and Youngstown State. Defending BIG EAST champion Georgetown is also in the field.
Tee Times:
The tournament will begin with one round on Saturday, with tee times beginning at 8:30 a.m. The Pirates will be paired with golfers from Georgetown and Yale. Finally, there will be one round on Sunday as well, also with tee times starting at 8:30.
