MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Seton Hall women's basketball team (11-6, 3-3 BIG EAST) ran into a hot-shooting team on its home floor, falling at No. 14 Marquette by a score of 96-60 Friday afternoon at the Al McGuire Center.
The Golden Eagles opened the game on an 8-0 run, but back-to-back 3-pointers from Victoria Cardaci (Holmdel, N.J.) later in the first frame got The Hall within a basket at 13-10. MU answered the Pirate push with another big run, out-scoring the Pirates 17-2 over the next four minutes to push its lead out to 30-12. The Golden Eagles would go on to hit 11 shots from 3-point range in the first half and take a 56-31 lead after two quarters.
The Hall would play a tighter third quarter, but the early deficit was too much to overcome. Cardaci led the Pirates with 16 points in the setback, followed closely by Shadeen Samuels (Ossining, N.Y.) with 15. Selena Philoxy (Queens, N.Y.) finished with 10 points and 11 rebounds for the Pirates to record her first career double-double. For MU, Natisha Hiedeman led four in double-figures with 28 points.
Inside The Numbers
The Pirates continue their road swing on Sunday when they head to Chicago to square off with No. 24 DePaul. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. (ET) on the BIG EAST Digital Network and FOX Sports app.
