
Pirates Top Rider for Second Straight Week

Piscataway, N.J. - The Seton Hall men's swimming & diving team won eight individual events and three relay races en route to a victory over Rider this weekend at the Rutgers Aquatics Center. This was the second straight week that the Pirates topped the Broncs.
Senior Josh Tosoni (Arnold, Md.) and sophomore Ben LaClair (Belchertown, Mass.) were among the top standouts on the team. Tosoni won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 56.30, finishing just ahead of his teammates sophomore Thomas Staes (Berlaar, Belgium) and freshman Gennarino Conzemius (Bethel Park, Pa.) as the Pirates swept the top three places. Tosoni also won the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:03.26 and placed second in the 100 IM (53.30).
LaClair swam a great 500 freestyle, winning the event in a time of 4:38.66, and then came back to claim the 200 freestyle as well with a time of 1:42.08. He also finished second in the 100 freestyle (47.06) and was part of winning 200 and 400 freestyle relays.
Other winners on the weekend included Staes, who bested Tosoni in the 100 IM with a time of 52.82, senior Sam Hendrix (Hillsborough, N.J.) taking the 50 freestyle in a time of 21.47, sophomore Caleb Smith (Charlottesville, Va.) winning the 1650 freestyle in a time of 16:23.99 and sophomore Ben Puglessi (Ada, Mich.) claiming the 200 butterfly in 1:54.03.
Seton Hall will return home for a Friday afternoon swim against Montclair State and Monmouth inside Arthur E. Imperatore Natatorium. The meet begins at 4 p.m.
