South Orange, N.J. - Senior Myles Powell (Trenton, N.J.) scored 21 points in only 17 minutes of work, and senior Quincy McKnight (Bridgeport, Conn.) issued eight assists as the No. 12 ranked Seton Hall men's basketball team cruised to an 81-52 over Bloomfield in an exhibition contest Friday in front of a sold-out historic Walsh Gymnasium crowd of 1,655.
Powell, the BIG EAST's Preseason Player of the Year and an Associated Press Preseason All-America selection, was joined in double-figure scoring by sophomore Jared Rhoden (Baldwin, N.Y.) who had 13 points and junior Myles Cale (Middletown, Del.) who had 10 points. Senior Romaro Gill (St. Thomas, Jamaica) was a force in the middle with five blocked shots to go with six points.
Turning Point
Seton Hall took a 17-point lead into halftime, but Bloomfield opened the second half on an 8-0 run to force the Pirates to call timeout. The Hall regrouped as McKnight stripped a Tigers player in the paint and passed to Powell, who connected on a fast-break three to restore the order. From there, the Pirates went on a 23-6 run to pull away.
