Desiree Elmore Named BIG EAST Player of the Week

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Seton Hall junior Desiree Elmore (Hartford, Conn.) was named BIG EAST Women's Basketball Player of the Week on Monday.

Elmore was a force both offensively and defensively in a pair of Seton Hall routs last week to begin the 2019-20 season. The forward erupted for 20 points and matched her career-high with nine rebounds in the season-opener against Sacred Heart on Wednesday. She also had a career-high three blocks to go with three assists. On Saturday, Elmore recorded the first double-double of her career. She had game-highs of 18 points and 14 rebounds, while also dishing out three assists and recording a pair of steals. For the remarkable week, Elmore averaged 19.0 points and 11.5 rebounds per game and was nearly perfect, 11-for-12, from the free-throw line.

St. John's Leilani Correa was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week. Members of the Weekly Honor Roll include Creighton's Temi Carda, Xavier's A'riana Gray, Marquette's Selena Lott, DePaul's Chante Stonewall and Providence's Kaela Webb.

Seton Hall return to action on Tuesday when it hosts Atlantic 10 preseason favorite VCU at historic Walsh Gymnasium. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
