
Harkness Paces Pirates at BIG EAST Championships

Kenosha, Wis. -Â The Seton Hall men's cross country team competed in the BIG EAST Championships on Saturday. The Pirates took ninth in the field on a snowy, wet course.
The Hall was paced by freshman Declan Harkness (Stewartsville, N.J.) who in his BIG EAST Championships debut ran a time of 28:20.8. This was Harkness's fifth time finishing as a top five Pirate and his first time leading the squad.
Harkness was followed closely by fellow underclassman Cole Kretlow (Oakland, Calif.)Â with a time of 28:22.0. For Kretlow, it was his sixth time in seven meets placing within the top three Pirates.
In third for the Pirates was freshman John Loeffel (Queens, N.Y.)Â whose time of 28:48.5 earned him third on the Pirates. Loeffel has now finished within the top three Seton Hall runners in all four meets he has run this season.
Rounding out the top five Pirates were sophomores Justin Allone (Holtsville, N.Y.)Â and Brandin Affrunti (Staten Island, N.Y.)Â with times of 29:34.9 and 29:40.2, respectively.
The Pirates will finish up the 2019 season when they run at the IC4A/ECAC Championships on Nov. 23.
