
Kness Guides Pirates to Fourth Place Finish at Idle Hour

MACON, GA. – Junior Mia Kness (Venetia, Pa.) capped a career-best tournament performance with a 2-over-par, 74, on Tuesday to lift the Seton Hall women's golf team to a fourth place finish at the Idle Hour Collegiate Championship.

Kness had birdies on holes No. 17 and No. 18 to fuel her 74 and lock down her fourth career top-5 finish. For the three-round event, she tied for fourth place with a 2-under-par, 68-72-74-214. Kness finished five strokes behind Georgia Southern's Ella Ofstedahl, who claimed the individual title.

Kness's 2-under-par, 214, represents her second career sub-par tournament, and ties teammates Maddie Sager and Sarah Fouratt for the par-72, three-round record set earlier this fall at the Nittany Lion Invitational.

As a team, the Pirates put together their finest round of the tournament, a 6-over-par, 294, to move up one spot to fourth place in the final standings. For the event, The Hall was 34 strokes over par with a 301-303-294-898. Charlotte won the team title at 3-under-par. Mercer finished second at 11-over-par, while Georgia Southern was just ahead of Seton Hall in third place at 30-over-par.

Seniors Maddie Sager (Phoenixville, Pa.) and Lizzie Win (Sylvania, Ohio) had the top performance of the third round for the Pirates. Each collected four birdies in route to an even-par, 72. For the tournament, Win narrowly missed a top-10 finish, slotting in at 13th with an 8-over-par, 78-74-72-224, while Sager finished just one stroke behind, tied for 14th with a 9-over-par, 74-79-72-225.

Senior Carolina Ronchel Salas (Huelva, Spain) improved for a third straight round, using three birdies to card a 5-over-par, 77, on Tuesday. For the tournament, she tied for 48th place with a 20-over-par, 81-78-77-236.

Sammie Staudt (Coatesville, Pa.) rounded out the Pirates team scoring with her best round of the tournament as well. She shaved three more strokes off her round to finish with a 4-over-par, 76. For the event, she was 23-over-par with an 84-79-76-239.

Sophomore Sarah Fouratt (Santa Maria, Calif.) competed as an individual, and tied Ronchel Salas for 48th place with a 20-over-par, 75-80-81-236.
