From Seahawks to Seawolves. It's a Sea kind of week for the Pirates, who topped Wagner in its season opener and now host Stony Brook Saturday in a Seton Hall Basketball doubleheader at Walsh Gymnasium.Â
Saturday's game will be the final one inside this iteration of Walsh Gymansium. The gym is scheduled to undergo a massive facelift in Spring 2020. Renovations are to include new seating, a new court, new baskets and a new center-hung scoreboard. Walsh has always been kind to the Pirates. From the days of Walter Dukes and Richie Regan dominating to the days of Bill Raftery being animated on the sidelines to today's occasional regular season game there, Walsh has always been connected with Seton Hall men's basketball.
Seton Hall's all-time record inside Walsh is 424-142 (.749). The program once won 46 straight games inside Walsh, lasting nearly three complete calendar years. Win Number 425 on Saturday would be nice.
Saturday's game is a FOX Sports Networks game, which means it will air locally on YES Network. Check out the list of TV clearances to see where else it will air. As always, Gary Cohen and Dave Popkin will have the radio call on AM970 The Answer, simulcast on the Pirate Sports Network.
Three Things to Know About Saturday's Game vs. Stony Brook
 1. America East Dominance
Seton Hall is 16-3 all-time against an opponent who was in the America East Conference at the time of the game. This includes a 4-0 mark over the Seawolves. Of the nine institutions who make up the America East today, Seton Hall has played five schools: Stony Brook, Hartford, Maine, UMass Lowell and New Hampshire. The Pirates have not lost to an America East school since dropping a game to Niagara on March 13, 1987 in the NIT.
Â
2. Block Party
The Pirates blocked five shots in Tuesday's win over Wagner, and it's already got everyone thinking about the possibilities this year with 7-2 twin towers Ike Obiagu and Romaro Gill protecting the rim. Seton Hall's team record for blocks in a season is 236, set in 2000-01 when Eddie Griffin and Samuel Dalembert were swatting everything in sight. That came out to 7.6 blocks per game. So The Hall needs to pick up the pace.Â
 Â
3. Let's Help Out a Good Cause
On Saturday, Seton Hall is accepting teddy bear donations for its Teddy Bear Toss. We are asking fans to bring new teddy bears with the original tags on them to toss onto the court at halftime. The teddy bears will benefit children in the New Jersey foster care system.Â
