PALM CITY, FLA. – Senior Gen Nagai (Mandaue Cebu City, Philippines) and sophomore Andres Acevedo (San Antonio, Texas) each fired a 1-over-par, 73, on Monday to lead the Seton Hall men's golf team in round two of the UNCG/Martin Downs Collegiate.
Â
Nagai had two birdies and 13 pars to improve his score by two strokes from yesterday. Through two rounds, he is tied for 32nd place overall with a 4-over-par, 75-73-148. One of the players tied with Nagai is teammate Chris Yeom (Flushing, N.Y.), who shot his second consecutive 2-over-par, 74, on Monday. Both Pirates are currently trailing the tournament's individual leader, VCU's Kristian Tannum Donaldson, by 14 strokes entering Tuesday's final round. Donaldson has a four-stroke lead on the field.
Â
Acevedo birdied hole No. 3 and had a team-best 15 pars in route to a 1-over-par, 73, on Monday. He improved eight strokes from round one to round two, and is now tied for 58th place at 10-over-par with an 81-73-154.
Â
Collectively, the Pirates vastly improved on Monday, shaving 15 strokes off their team score. Unfortunately however, the rest of the field was better as well. The Hall shot a 7-over-par, 295, on Monday, and are currently in 11th place at 29-over-par for the tournament with a 310-295-605.  Host UNCG is the team leader at 10-under-par entering Tuesday's final round. The lone other BIG EAST school in the field, Villanova, currently trails the Pirates by 13 strokes.
Â
The top individual Pirate through two rounds continues to be freshman Peter Tyler Po (Nasipit Cebu City, Philippines), but he is participating as an individual. After a career-best even-par, 72, yesterday, Po shot a 3-over-par, 75, in round two. For the tournament, he is tied for 29th place with a 3-over-par, 72-75-147.
Â
Rounding out the Pirates' lineup, both Gregor Tait (Martlesham Heath, England) and freshman Deven Ramachandran (San Rafael, Calif.) were 3-over-par with a 75 in round two.Â
Â
Tait had an up-and-down round, highlighted by a pair of eagles, but also three holes that were at least double-bogeys. The sophomore eagled par-5 holes No. 13 and No. 17 to fuel his round, and improve five shots from yesterday. For the tournament, Tait is 11-over-par with an 80-75-155.
Â
Ramachandran also improved mightily, shaving eight strokes off his first round score. He had two birdies and 12 pars to boost his round. Through two rounds, he is 14-over-par with an 83-75-158.
Â
In addition to Po, junior Alex Chalk (Castle Douglas, Scotland) is also competing as an individual. Chalk improved four strokes in the second round, thanks to a team-best five birdies, to finish with a 1-over-par, 73. For the tournament, he is tied for 41st place with a 6-over-par, 77-73-150.Â
