Loeffel, Kretlow Help Pirates Land First at NYIT Invitational

Old Westbury, N.Y. – The Seton Hall men's cross country team took first place out of 18 teams in the NYIT Invitational on Saturday.
Freshmen John Loeffel (New York, N.Y.) and Cole Kretlow (Oakland, Calif.) helped to pace the Pirates with second and third place finishes, respectively.
The team victory is the first for the Pirates this season while the team has managed to finish in the top three in all three meets so far this season.
Kretlow's third place finish is his second top-10 placement of the season and the third such finish in his career, while his 8k time of 23:29.67 is the fastest of his career, eclipsing his old mark of 26:44.91 at the Salisbury University Fall Classic earlier this season.
For the second consecutive meet, Loeffel has paced the Pirate men, while now finishing top-15 in all three of his collegiate races up to this point.
The Pirates will be back in action when the run at the Monmouth Invitation on Sept. 21 in West Long Branch, N.J.
