Men's Cross Country Earn BIG EAST Team Academic Excellence Award

NEW YORK, N.Y. -- The BIG EAST Conference has announced on Tuesday that the Seton Hall men's cross country program has been recognized with 2025-26 Team Academic Excellence Awards for compiling the highest collective grade-point averages in each conference sport.
Seton Hall is one of nine BIG EAST full member institutions to have at least one team selected for an award. The winners were chosen based on the 2025-26 grade-point average of each student-athlete who appeared on an institution's roster as of the last contest of the championship segment in each conference-sponsored sport.

In his first season at the helm of the Pirates, Head Coach Jacob Simon piloted The Hall to one of its best seasons this decade. The highlight of the men's season for the team came at the Metropolitan Championships, where, led by a podium finish from Aakash Arumugam, the Pirates secured their first team title at the event in program history. For his key performance, Arumugam later earned BIG EAST Cross Country Male Athlete of the Week honors. Later in the season, Omaha, Nebraska, a the Pirates added another historic mark by scoring their lowest-ever team total t the BIG EAST Championships.
