
Gasser, Wilkins Fuel Pirates' Sweep of Saint Francis

AKRON, OHIO – Both senior Haylee Gasser (Mission Viejo, Calif.) and freshman Julia Wilkins (Mason, Ohio) recorded 12 kills as the Seton Hall women's volleyball team swept Saint Francis, 3-0 (25-17, 25-13, 25-15), at the Akron Invitational on Saturday.

Gasser had 12 kills, only two attack errors and an attack percentage of .417. Wilkins had 12 kills, a .320 attack percentage and a career-high seven digs.

Senior Maggie Cvelbar (Euclid, Ohio) had a season-high 34 assists to go with eight digs.

SET 1:
Saint Francis grabbed an early 5-2 lead in set one, but The Hall responded with a 15-3 run, and a kill by Madison Salkowski (Cold Spring, Ky.), gave the Pirates a commanding, 17-8 advantage. The Red Flash scored the next two points, but Seton Hall again took off, scoring six of the next seven points to put it in front, 23-11. A Saint Francis service error put The Hall in set point, and a Gasser kill ended the set in Seton Hall's favor, 25-17.

In set two, Saint Francis took another early lead, 5-3, but again the Pirates charged back. A 9-3 Seton Hall run, capped by back-to-back kills from Wilkins, put it on top, 12-8. The Red Flash scored the next two points to cut their deficit to two points, but The Hall closed out the set on a 13-3 burst. Gasser had back-to-back kills to close out the set in dominating fashion for Seton Hall, 25-13.
