Seton Hall softball head coach Paige Smith has announced that Heather Bergman will serve as an Assistant Coach for the 2020 season. Bergman previously joined the program as a volunteer assistant coach during the 2019 season.
Bergman arrived at Seton Hall after spending the past six years serving as a softball instructor at Epic Sports Training and Fitness.
"Heather will continue in her roles as strength and conditioning as well as hitting and catching," Smith said. "Heather's background in strength and conditioning are integral in our never ending quest to understand how the body can move more efficiently to produce results on the offensive side of the ball."
For the previous four years, Bergman had been a travel softball coach for three different teams. She was also an assistant on the softball staff at Montclair Sate from 2013-17.
Much of Bergman's softball knowledge comes from her experience as a player for Montclair State. In both 2011 and 2012, Bergman was a New Jersey Athletic Conference 2nd Team All-Conference catcher. Also, in 2012, she was honored as a NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete.
"Heather has a unique ability to demand results at a high level while connecting with athletes more personally," Smith said.
Bergman graduated from Montclair State in 2012 with a B.S. in Physical Education Adult Fitness.
Bergman will replace former assistant coach Daniel Nicolaisen, now working in the St. Louis Cardinals organization, as a full-time assistant coach.
"With the departure of Daniel Nicolaisen, I couldn't think of anyone better to continue our work than Heather, who has been working alongside him for two seasons," Smith said.
