The beauty of the BIG EAST compared to the ACC or Big Ten is the full round-robin schedule. You play every team twice, so the teams that come out on top in the standings deserve it because they've played each team home and away.
Equitable.
In the case of Wednesday's matchup between Seton Hall and DePaul, the Pirates have the opportunity to put into practice what they learned about themselves in the second half of the first meeting with the Blue Demons, when they turned around a deficit by clamping down on defense. DePaul has the opportunity to right the wrong and figure out how to force the Pirates into more mistakes.
The two teams know each other's plays and they will be prepared. So it's up to the coaches to put in some new wrinkles and it's up to the student-athletes to adjust.
Wednesday's rematch airs on FS1 with Brian Custer and Jim Spanarkel guiding you through the telecast. Gary Cohen and Dave Popkin will call it on the radio via AM970 The Answer, simulcast on Sirius 136, XM 207 and the Pirate Sports Network.
Three Things to Know About Wednesday's Matchup With DePaul
 1. Which Half Was More Indicative For Each Team?
Seton Hall committed 11 turnovers that turned into 17 DePaul points in the first half of their first meeting, but then the Pirates did better holding onto the ball in the second half and locked in on defense, limiting DePaul to nine points in the final 10 minutes (and scoreless in the final 2:36) while Myles Powell went off for 18 of his game-high 27 points and The Hall shot 52 percent. The Pirates have been a second-half team all season long, so perhaps it's up to DePaul to figure out how to stop their opponent.
Â
2. Pick Your Poison
Seton Hall's success defending DePaul in the first meeting was largely due to Quincy McKnight and Shavar Reynolds, Jr., doing a great job guarding Charlie Moore and Romaro Gill blocking shots in the interior. Moore committed eight turnovers in the first matchup while only shooting 4-of-15 from the field. Meanwhile, Paul Reed had 17 and nine as he continues to put up big numbers against the Pirates. So is it a pick your poison situation? Perhaps, or if it ain't broke, why fix it? Continue to faceguard Moore and force him into mistakes, and the Pirates could find themselves with a regular season sweep. But The Hall has to be able to stop one of them; a dominant Moore AND Reed is a recipe for a Blue Demons victory.

3. Sharing is Caring
Seton Hall has a +10 scoring margin in its first seven BIG EAST games, and a lot of that can be credited to strong ball movement and executing offensive set plays well. The Pirates have 109 assists on 181 field goals in conference play, which is a shade over 60 percent of the makes. Of course, Quincy McKnight has the bulk of those assists with 57 and many of them have come on a "Pick-and-Ro" to Romaro Gill. The Pirates need to continue to be a strong offensive machine as they start to play teams for a second time.
