
Balanced Attack Drives Pirates Past Georgetown, 78-62

Senior Romaro Gill (St. Thomas, Jamaica) erupted for a career-high 17 points on an efficient 6-for-9 shooting from the floor and 5-for-6 from the free-throw line. He also had eight rebounds and four blocks.
Junior Myles Cale (Middletown, Del.) had 16 points on the strength of five made three-pointers. He was 5-for-6 from downtown and had six rebounds and two steals. Senior All-America candidate Myles Powell (Trenton, N.J.) scored 12 of his 15 points in the second half to go with a season-high six assists and four rebounds.
Senior Quincy McKnight (Bridgeport, Conn.) notched his first double-double of the season and the fifth of his career. He finished with 14 points and a career-high 10 assists to go with six rebounds.
Seton Hall's defense limited the BIG EAST's top scoring team to 18 points under its season average.

What Happened:
Trailing 7-2 early, Seton Hall went on a 13-2 run, and a fast-break three-pointer by Cale with 14:47 left in the first half gave the Pirates a 15-9 lead and forced a Georgetown timeout. Cale was just warming up. The junior connected on his first four three-point attempts, the fourth of which gave The Hall a 21-14 lead with 12:35 to go before the break.
Leading 26-18, the Pirate offense took off again. A 13-1 run highlighted by three-point plays from both Gill and Shavar Reynolds Jr. (Manchester, N.J.) gave The Hall a commanding 39-19 advantage with 3:42 left before halftime.
The Hall held Georgetown to just 31.3% shooting from the floor in the first half and took a 41-24 lead into the locker room.
The second half was much of the same for both teams. Trailing 56-35, Georgetown scored nine straight points to cut their deficit to 12 points with 10:50 left to play. The Pirate lead got down to 11 points with 8:28 to go, but Seton Hall erupted for a 10-0 run over the next 2:43 capped by three-pointers from Powell on back-to-back possessions.
Inside the Numbers:
- Seton Hall was 25-for-54 (46.3%) from the floor for the game, 9-for-21 (42.9%) from three-point range and 19-for-24 (79.2%) from the free-throw line. Georgetown was 25-for-70 (35.7%) overall, 3-for-17 (35.7%) from three and 9-for-16 (56.3%) at the charity stripe.
- The Hall out-rebounded Georgetown, 42-to-38.
- Gill finished with a career-high 17 points on 6-for-9 shooting from the floor and 5-for-6 shooting from the free-throw line. He also had eight rebounds and a game-high four blocks.
- Cale had 16 points on the strength of 5-for-6 shooting from three-point range. He also grabbed six rebounds to go with two steals.
- Powell had 15 points, 12 in the second half, to go with a season-high six assists, four rebounds and two steals.
- McKnight had a double-double with 14 points and a career-high 10 assists while also grabbing six rebounds.
- Sophomore Jared Rhoden (Baldwin, N.Y.) narrowly missed a double-double with nine points and nine rebounds.
- Georgetown came into the game as the BIG EAST's top scoring offense, and the Pirates held them 18 points under the season average.

News & Notes:
- The victory improves Seton Hall to 10-4 overall and 2-0 in the BIG EAST, while Georgetown drops to 10-5 overall and 0-2 in conference play. The Hall improves to 22-19 all-time in BIG EAST home openers.
- Seton Hall improves to 51-58 all-time against Georgetown and has won eight of the last 10 contests.
- Seton Hall has now started 2-0 in BIG EAST play for the third-consecutive season and the fifth time in the last six years. Of Seton Hall's nine previous 2-0 BIG EAST starts, seven resulted in NCAA Tournament appearances.
- Seton Hall is now 132-60 all-time at the Prudential Center, including a 60-49 mark against BIG EAST competition.
- Seton Hall improves to 92-13 since the 2015-16 season when its lead gets to seven or more points during a game.
- McKnight's 10 assists are the most since Madison Jones collected 10 against Fairleigh Dickinson on Nov. 11, 2016.
- With 15 points tonight, Powell has moved past Seton Hall great Mark Bryant (1984-88) into seventh place on Seton Hall's career scoring list. He now has 1,917 for his remarkable career.
- Powell reached 20 points for the eighth time this season and the 39th time of his career. It's the 88th time he's scored in double-figures for his career.
- Seton Hall improves to a perfect 7-0 this season when out-rebounding its opponent.
- With 16 points tonight, Cale surpassed the 600-point mark for his career and is now tied for 98th all-time in Seton Hall scoring history.
