NEW YORK – The BIG EAST Conference has announced its December schedule of men's basketball league games and Seton Hall will begin defense of its 2020 BIG EAST regular season championship at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. against DePaul on Friday, Dec. 11, the conference office announced Wednesday.
The remainder of the conference schedule will be announced at a later date along with tipoff times and television designations. The Hall is one of six teams playing on the conference's first day of league games and three of its first five BIG EAST contests will be played at Prudential Center. No fans will be in attendance.
After their opener against the Blue Demons, the Pirates will travel to the Midwest for games against Xavier on Dec. 15 and Marquette on Dec. 17. Seton Hall's December conference schedule then wraps up with home contests against Providence (Dec. 20) and Georgetown (Dec. 23).
Seton Hall's non-conference schedule is still under construction.
The Pirates – who were picked to finish fifth in the 11-team BIG EAST by the league's head coaches – return 44 percent of their scoring, 63 percent of their rebounding and 50 percent of their threes made from last season's conference championship squad, led by senior Sandro Mamukelashvili (Tbilisi, Georgia). They also gain the services of sit-out transfer Takal Molson (Buffalo, N.Y) and coveted graduate transfer Bryce Aiken (Randolph, N.J.), who have combined to score over 2,000 career points at the Div. I level. Seton Hall is primed to continue its string of consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, 20-win seasons and top-three conference finishes.Â
