South Orange, N.J. – Seton Hall men's basketball has signed three talented student-athletes as part of a highly touted recruiting class that ranks among the best in the nation, head coach Kevin Willard announced Monday.Â
Joining the Pirates are 6-1 point guard Ryan Conway from Baltimore, Md., 6-5 wing Tyler Powell from Los Angeles, Calif., and 6-5 guard Brandon Weston from Brooklyn, N.Y. The class, ranked 24th in the country by 247Sports, will join a Seton Hall program that won the 2020 BIG EAST regular season championship and registered its fifth-consecutive 20-win campaign in 2019-20.
"We're very excited to welcome three terrific young men into our Seton Hall basketball family," Willard said. "Ryan, Tyler and Brandon all come from such great families and extremely successful basketball programs. Their decision to come to Seton Hall makes this a great day for the future of Seton Hall basketball."
Conway, who currently attends Dulaney High School in Timonium, Md., is a two-time All-Metro selection by the Baltimore Sun. He was first-team All-Metro pick as a sophomore after averaging 21.5 points, 4.5 assists and 2.7 steals per game. He's ranked as a four-star prospect by ESPN and a top-25 point guard in the country by 247Sports.

"Ryan is a dedicated and relentless worker with outstanding shooting ability," Willard said. "The fact that he has a chance to break Maryland's all-time public school scoring record speaks volumes to his elite scoring ability. In addition, his leadership qualities and commitment to academics make him a perfect fit for Seton Hall. Our fans will enjoy watching him on the court."
As a junior, Powell averaged 19 points and nine rebounds a game and helped lead Ribet Academy to a CIF Division I state championship. The Los Angeles native plays under a coaching staff that includes Seton Hall alum Pookey Wigington, who was a key role player on the Pirates' 1989 Final Four squad. Powell is ranked as a four-star prospect by ESPN and he's ranked 25th at his position and ninth overall in the state of California by 247Sports.

"Tyler is a terrific student, and we're excited that he's been mentored by one of our own in Coach Wigington," Willard said. "He has a tremendous knack for scoring the basketball and has a great physical presence on both ends of the floor. He has a great love for the game, and I think our fans will be ecstatic when they watch him play next year."
Brooklyn, N.Y., native Brandon Weston chose South Orange and Seton Hall as the landing spot for his return to the East Coast. After starting his career in Chicago at Morgan Park High School, Weston will spend his senior season at Hillcrest Prep in Phoenix. Weston averaged 24 points, 10 rebounds and three steals per game this past season at Morgan Park. He's a consensus four-star prospect and is the 70th ranked overall recruit in the country by 247Sports.

"Brandon is a tough-nosed New York City kid who fits in with the culture and style of program that we run," Willard said. "He continues a long tradition of city players choosing to cross the Hudson to come to Seton Hall. He has great size and length at the two and can score in so many ways on the court. He will work tirelessly to get better and our fans are going to enjoy watching him compete."
This year's Pirates return 44 percent of their scoring, 63 percent of their rebounding and 50 percent of their three-pointers made from last season's BIG EAST championship squad. Plus, the Pirates gain the services of two transfers who have combined for over 2,000 career points at the Div. I level. Senior Sandro Mamukelashvili and senior graduate transfer Bryce Aiken were recently honored by the BIG EAST as Mamukelashvili was named a unanimous selection to the Preseason All-BIG EAST first team and Aiken was named Preseason All-BIG EAST Honorable Mention.
