Seton Hall is 10-1 in the BIG EAST, holds a three-game lead in the conference standings, is ranked No. 10 in the country and is on the radar for an NCAA Tournament top-four seed.Â
But in the grand scheme of things, none of that matters unless the Pirates maintain their focus on one of the best teams in the country coming into their building Wednesday night. Seton Hall has accomplished a lot in 2019-20, but the Pirates have much further to go and it starts with defending a potent No. 23 Creighton squad that knows how to score early and often. The Pirates know all too well that in this great league, in the best conference in America, you can't have an off night. You can get picked off.
So as this voyage sails on towards the end of February into March, Seton Hall has to maintain laser-like focus on its tremendous opponents.
Wednesday's big game will air on FS1 with Gus Johnson and Bill Raftery on the call. Dave Popkin will handle play-by-play, and, between bites of popcorn, John Fanta will provide color on AM970 The Answer, simulcast on Sirius 137, XM 207 and the Pirate Sports Network.Â
Three Things to Know About Wednesday Night at The Rock
 1. Can Seton Hall Force Creighton Mistakes?
Creighton scores a lot of points and thus there are a lot of possessions, so you'd think that Creighton might be up there in turnovers, but in fact the Bluejays are very good at taking care of the basketball, averaging only 10.9 giveaways a game, and their 16.1 turnover percentage on offense ranks 22nd best in the nation. That is high level effectiveness on offense that the Pirates must try to neutralize with strong on-the-ball defense. As we know, the Pirates thrive on turning turnovers into points, so they have to figure out what many Creighton opponents have yet to figure out.
Â
2. Check Out the Size Difference
Creighton's projected starting five only averages out to 6-4.5 while the Pirates average out to 6-7. That's a sizable difference, especially when at the "5" position, you have 7-2 Romaro Gill and 6-7 Christian Bishop. So the Pirates have to gameplan correctly for defending a smaller Bluejays team. That can change things dramatically.
 Â
3. Get to The Rock Early
It's Bill Raftery Bobblehead Night! RWJ Barnabas Health is the presenting sponsor, and the first 4,000 fans in attendance are getting one! So tell the boss you're knocking off work early, fight the traffic and make sure you're ready for doors to open at 5:30 p.m. Just no rioting, please. Remember, it's just a bobblehead.Â
