Pirates Take Third Behind Strong Performances at BIG EAST

EAST MEADOW, N.Y. – The Seton Hall men's swimming and diving team place third at BIG EAST Championships with 685 points.

In his final BIG EAST Championships, senior Josh Tosoni (Arnold, Md.) captured first in the 200 Breast, breaking his own school record with a time of 1:57.90. Thomas Staes (Berlaar, Belgium) also placed in the event with a fifth place finish in a time of 2:01.29

Freshman Ross Pantano (Bennington, Neb.) captured third in the 200 Back. Pantano touched the wall in a time of 1:46.91.

The Pirates were able to play two of the top three swimmers in the 100 Free with Thomas Minar (Oxford, Conn.) and Ben LaClair (Belchertown, Mass.) taking second and third, respectively. Minar touched the wall in 45.21 with LaClair taking it in 45.32.

In the 200 Fly, the Pirates packed the podium with Joe Gibson (Chicago, Ill.), Justin Oosterwyk (Pequannock, N.J.) and Liam Cosgrove (Sea Girt, N.J.) taking third, fifth and sixth. Senior Tim Lynch (Watertown, Conn.) placed fifth in diving with a score of 432 in the one meter.

To close out the championships, the Pirates 400 Free Relay team took third with a time of 3:00.25.
