LAST GAME
Senior Shadeen Samuels (Ossining, N.Y.) grabbed a rebound off a missed free-throw and scored with two seconds left to give the Seton Hall women's basketball team an improbable 65-63 victory on Sunday.
Â
Freshman Mya Jackson (Wilmington, Ohio) was fouled, down a point, with only four seconds left and calmly made her first shot to tie the score at 63. She missed her second shot, but Samuels was able to pull down the rebound and score off the glass for the game-winner.
Â
The never-say-die Pirates trailed by nine entering the fourth quarter, but opened the final frame with an 11-1 burst to get back into the game. Samuels finished with a team-high 25 points, including nine in the fourth quarter, on 10-for-13 shooting. She also pulled down seven rebounds.

EARLIER THIS SEASON AGAINST MARQUETTE
Senior Barbara Johnson (Toronto, Ontario) had a team-high 20 points, and the Pirates cut a 20-point deficit to only seven late, but the they fell at Marquette, 81-60, in Milwaukee on Jan. 12. Johnson scored 20 points on 8-for-17 shooting. She also grabbed six rebounds and tied her career-high with four steals.
Â
Desiree Elmore (Hartford, Conn.) and Mya Jackson also reached double-figures in scoring. Elmore had 12 points, five rebounds and three assists before fouling out late. Jackson finished with 10 points and three rebounds.
Â
Leading 38-34 at the half, the Golden Eagles opened the third quarter with 20 of the first 24 points to take a commanding 58-38 lead with 3:50 left in the period. In all, going back to the end of the second quarter, Marquette had a 24-4 run over 8:37 to assume control. The Hall was just 1-for-13 from the floor during that span, while the Golden Eagles were 9-for-15.
