
Ramachandran Powers Pirates in Round Two at Bandon Dunes

BANDON DUNES, ORE. – Sophomore Deven Ramachandran (San Rafael, Calif.) fired a 2-under-par, 69, in round two of the Bandon Dunes Championship on Monday and has the Seton Hall men's golf team in sixth place with 18 holes remaining.

Ramachandran used five birdies to fuel his team-best second round. Through 36 holes, he is tied for 16th place with an even-par, 73-69-142.Â

As a team, the Pirates shot a 4-over-par, 288, on Monday. For the tournament, The Hall is 4-over-par, with a 284-288-572, and is 14 strokes behind the team leader, Oregon State, which leads the talented field by six strokes.Â

Freshman Wenliang Xie (Zhaoqing, China) shot a 2-over-par, 73, on Monday, thanks to two birdies and 13 pars. Through two rounds, he's still the top Pirate, tied for seventh place among 100 individual golfers with a 2-under-par, 67-73-140. Xie trails a trio of leaders by three strokes entering the final round.

Senior Alex Chalk (Castle Douglas, Scotland) shot a 3-over-par, 74, in round two. For the tournament, he is tied for 23rd place and just 1-over-par, with a 69-74-143.

Junior Gregor Tait (Martlesham Heath, England) shaved three strokes off his first-round score to finish with a 1-over-par, 72, in round two. Currently, he's 5-over-par with a 75-72-147.

Rounding out the Pirates' lineup, Andres Acevedo (San Antonio, Texas) shot a 6-over-par, 77, on Monday. Through two rounds, he is 10-over-par with a 75-77-152.

Competing as an individual, Peter Tyler Po (Nasipit Cebu City, Philippines) shot a 5-over-par, 76, in round two. For the tournament, he's 9-over-par with a 75-76-151.

It began in 1999 with the opening of Bandon Dunes. Designed by Scotsman David McLay Kidd, the course is perched on a bluff high above the Pacific Ocean. Bandon Dunes unfolds along pristine native dunes where expansive ocean views are revealed on nearly every hole. The course is completely natural and routed through an environment of indigenous vegetation. Beyond breathtaking scenery lies the game of golf in its truest form. This is a thinker's course. Winds are ever-present, and the varying elements create a new experience each time you play.
THE FIELD:
In addition to Seton Hall and host Idaho, the highly competitive field features 14 other teams including: Boise State, Cal Baptist, Denver, Fresno State, Kansas, Northern Colorado, Oregon, Oregon State, San Jose State, Seattle, UCLA, Utah, Washington, Washington State.

TEE TIMES:
The field will play three rounds over three days with a shotgun start each day at 11:30 a.m. ET. For the opening round, the Pirates will be paired with golfers from Fresno State, Boise State and Denver.
