
Ramachandran Fuels Pirates to Ninth Place at Bandon Dunes

BANDON DUNES, ORE. – Sophomore Deven Ramachandran (San Rafael, Calif.) shot a 1-over-par, 72, in round three of the Bandon Dunes Championship on Tuesday and guided Seton Hall men's golf team to a ninth place finish.

Ramachandran used five birdies to power his final round. The sophomore was the low Pirate for the tournament, tying for 18th place with a 1-over-par, 73-69-72-214. He finished six strokes behind the individual champion, UCLA's Devon Bling.

As a team, the Pirates shot an 11-over-par, 295, in round three. They finished in ninth place, which is quite an achievement given the quality of the field. The Hall had a 15-over-par, 284-288-295-867. Oregon State won the team title at 11-under-par.

Freshman Wenliang Xie (Zhaoqing, China) shot a 4-over-par, 74, on the final day. For the tournament, he tied for 21st overall with a 2-over-par, 67-73-75-215.Â

Senior Alex Chalk (Castle Douglas, Scotland) was 3-over-par in round three with a 74. For the three-day event, he tied for 34th place with a 69-74-74-217.

Junior Andres Acevedo (San Antonio, Texas) turned in his best round of the tournament on Tuesday, a 3-over-par, 74. For the tournament, he was 13-over-par with a 75-77-74-226. Meanwhile, classmate Gregor Tait (Martlesham Heath, England) had a 9-over-par, 80, in round three. He finished one stroke behind Acevedo for the tournament with a 14-over-par, 75-72-80-227.
Competing as an individual, sophomore Peter Tyler Po (Nasipit Cebu City, Philippines) finished with a 16-over-par, 75-76-78-229.

The course is completely natural and routed through an environment of indigenous vegetation. Beyond breathtaking scenery lies the game of golf in its truest form. This is a thinker's course. Winds are ever-present, and the varying elements create a new experience each time you play.
THE FIELD:
In addition to Seton Hall and host Idaho, the highly competitive field featured 14 other teams including: Boise State, Cal Baptist, Denver, Fresno State, Kansas, Northern Colorado, Oregon, Oregon State, San Jose State, Seattle, UCLA, Utah, Washington, Washington State.
