
The Hall Seeks Third BIG EAST Championship in Five Years

The BIG EAST Championship begins Saturday at Riverton Pointe Country Club in Hardeeville, S.C.
HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – The Seton Hall men's golf team will look for its third BIG EAST Championship in the last five years when it heads to Riverton Pointe Country Club in Hardeeville, S.C. for three rounds of golf this weekend.

The Pirates are coming off a strong showing during the 2025-26 year, claiming five top-5 finishes, in nine tournaments. Seton Hall's 289.08 team scoring average is its best since the 2021-22 year and the second-best in program history. The Hall shot under par for a tournament four times this year. Among Seton Hall's superlatives, it tied for third place at the Nemacolin Collegiate Invitational this fall at a staggering 17-under-par. It's 874 for the event is the fourth-lowest par-72, three-round score in school history.

Senior David Lally (Wicklow, Ireland) has been the top individual golfer for the Pirates this season. His 72.00 scoring average is a career best and currently the sixth-lowest single-year average in program history.

Overall, the program has won the team BIG EAST title four times, most recently in 2024. Four individuals have claimed the conference championship as well, including 2022 graduate Gregor Tait, who was a remarkable 11-under-par.

Senior David Lally (Wickow, Ireland) fired a 2-under-par, 69, in round three to lift the Seton Hall men's golf team to a fourth-place finish at the Princeton Invitational on April 12.

Lally had three birdies and 14 pars in route to the top Seton Hall round in round three. It was his 24th career sub-par round, which ranks seventh-most in program history. For the tournament, Lally tied for 10th place among 75 individual golfers with a 2-over-par, 76-70-69-215. It's also his sixth career top-10 finish.

As a team, Seton Hall had two dramatically different results on the front nine versus the back nine. The Pirates started on the back nine in round three, and were collectively 9-under-par and rocketed up the team leader board. On the front nine, however, The Hall was 10-over-par. For the round, Seton Hall shot a 1-over-par, 285. For the tournament, the Pirates placed fourth with a 21-over-par, 304-284-285-873.

Playing in his final collegiate round, Patrick Kahanek had the top performance for the Seton Hall men's golf team, an even-par, 72, in round three of the 2025 BIG EAST Championship at Callawassie Island.

As a team, for round three, the Pirates shot a 7-over-par, 295. Seton Hall slipped to ninth place in the final standings with a 16-over-par, 292-293-295-880. Marquette claimed the team title and the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament with a remarkable final score of 17-under-par. Xavier finished second at 6-under-par.

Individually, George Fricker (Woodbridge, England) was the top Pirate for the tournament. In round three, he had four birdies to fuel a 2-over-par, 74. Fricker tied for 10th with a 1-under-par, 70-71-74-215.Â

The BIG EAST will crown a team champion, which earns an automatic berth to the 2026 NCAA Championship. The individual champion also receives an NCAA Championship invitation.Â
