South Orange, N.J. -Â Seton Hall men's basketball head coach Kevin Willard has announced that Bryce Aiken, a 6-0 point guard from Randolph, N.J., will utilize his final year of eligibility to attend Seton Hall and play for the Pirates in 2020-21. Aiken is earning his bachelor's degree from Harvard in May and appeared in 65 career games for the Crimson.
"We are thrilled to welcome Bryce and his family to the Seton Hall Basketball family," Willard said. "Bryce is a very gifted scorer and playmaker, he has strong basketball IQ and he is fast. His skill, work ethic and experience will fit in well with our veteran group."
Aiken has been a dynamic player in his collegiate career at Harvard with averages of 16.8 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.7 assists over 65 career games. He is a two-time first-team All-Ivy League selection, the 2017 Ivy League Rookie of the Year, a 2019 USBWA All-District first team and NABC All-Region second team selection and a 2019 Lou Henson All-American.
Aiken helped the Crimson capture back-to-back Ivy League regular season championships in 2018 and 2019, and both times the Crimson reached the Ivy League Tournament final. In three career Ivy League Tournament games, Aiken averaged 28.3 points and was a two-time selection to the Ivy League All-Tournament team. He holds the tournament's record for most points scored in a game with 38 points at Yale on March 17, 2019.
His junior campaign at Harvard in 2018-19 was his finest when he averaged 22.2 points and shot 40 percent from three and 86 percent at the free throw line. He was the Ivy League scoring champion, and he put a dent in Harvard's single-game scoring list with three of the program's top 12 individual performances in school history, including 44 points at Columbia on Feb. 8, 2019, which is second-most ever by a Crimson.
Prior to attending Harvard, Aiken was a four-star, top-100 recruit out of The Patrick School, where he captained the team for two seasons and helped the Celtics win the Union County Tournament and reach the City of Palms Classic final. He was an All-State and All-County selection as a senior and the HoopHall Classic MVP.
Aiken joins a 2020-21 Seton Hall team that is primed to defend its 2020 BIG EAST regular season championship and continue its string of consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances. The Pirates return six upperclassmen from last season's championship team, accounting for 43 percent of last season's scoring and 50 percent of last season's rebounding.
