
Seton Hall Adds Transfers Bembry, Dean

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Seton Hall women's basketball head coach Anthony Bozzella announced on Thursday the additions of transfers Mya Bembry (West Orange, N.J.) and Curtessia "Nunu" Dean (Monroe, La.).Â

"I'm really excited about the additions of Nunu and Mya," Bozzella said. "They're quality student-athletes that will bring experience to our program. Additionally, their ability to score and rebound the ball will give us a big lift, especially in BIG EAST play. We're looking forward to both of them making an immediate contribution."

"I also want to give my staff a tremendous amount of credit to be able to recruit two quality student-athletes despite the current climate."

A nearby native of West Orange, Bembry graduated West Orange High School as its all-time leading scorer and rebounder. She earned three straight Essex County Player of the Year awards and guided her team to a 76-16 records in her final three seasons. The 6-foot-1 Bembry returns home after playing her freshman year at Penn State University. She saw action on all 30 games, making three starts, for the Nittany Lions and averaged 1.5 points and 2.8 rebounds in 12.6 minutes per contest.

Dean was a force for Trinity Valley Community College in Athens, Texas the last two seasons. The 5-foot-10 guard led Trinity Valley with 19.3 points per game as a sophomore and pulled down 5.6 rebounds per game in 33 starts. She totaled 1,234 points in only two seasons, connecting on 117 three-pointers and attempting a remarkable 300 free-throws. In two years, Dean led Trinity Valley two a 61-6 record and a Region XIV Title this year.
