Jeff Ngandu Signs NLI to Join Pirates Family

South Orange, N.J. - Jeff Ngandu, a 6-9 center originally from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Seton Hall and join the men's basketball program, head coach Kevin Willard has announced.

Ngandu most recently has been living in Canada, where he attended powerhouse Orangeville Prep, which was 19-0 in the Ontario Scholastic Basketball Association (OSBA) and won the league's championship. One of his top performances of the season was a monster 12-point, 13-rebound game against Athlete Institute Black back in October.

"We're excited to welcome a great young man into our family," Willard said. "Jeff is physically mature, plays with a high motor on both ends of the court, finishes well around the rim and is a tremendous rebounder. He has huge upside, and he will fit in very well with our hard-working group."

Before helping Orangeville Prep bring home the OSBA championship, Ngandu originally burst onto the radar in the United States last spring playing for the Exum Elite AAU team based in Utah. In the Adidas Gauntlet, he had a 14-point, nine-rebound performance in only 17 minutes of action.

Ngandu joins a loaded Seton Hall basketball program that is set up for continued success in 2020-21. With a combination of naturally talented student-athletes and a dedicated focus to skill development, Seton Hall has posted five consecutive 20-win seasons, has appeared in each of the last four NCAA Tournaments, won the 2020 BIG EAST regular season championship, has finished third or higher in the ultra-competitive conference each of the last five years and won the 2016 BIG EAST Tournament title.

The Pirates return six letterwinners from last season's championship team, including starters Sandro Mamukelashvili, Myles Cale and Jared Rhoden, while also adding the services of graduate transfer and gifted point guard Bryce Aiken.
