Tait Leading Pirates After Two Rounds at Georgetown

As a team, Seton Hall is tied for seventh place with 18 holes left to play.

BEALLSVILLE, MD. – Graduate student Gregor Tait (Martlesham Heath, England) is 2-under-par through two rounds and has help lift the Seton Hall men's golf team to a seventh-place tie at the Georgetown Intercollegiate entering Monday's final round.

Tait had six birdies in round one, finishing with a 1-over-par, 72, but in the afternoon, he shaved four strokes off his score using five birdies and 11 pars to fuel a 3-under-par, 68. Entering Monday's final round, Tait is tied for eighth place out of 65 individual golfers with a 2-under-par, 72-68-140. He trails the individual leader, Loyola's Brandon Berry, by nine strokes.

As a team, The Hall shot a 9-over-par, 293, in round one, but shaved off eight strokes to finish with a 1-over-par, 285, in round two. The Pirates are currently tied for seventh with Rhode Island with a 10-over-par, 293-285-578. Loyola s running away with the team title at 19-under-par, 20 strokes ahead of second-place Howard University. Host Georgetown is currently one stroke ahead of the Pirates in sixth place at 9-over-par.

Sophomore Wanxi Sun (Danville, Calif.) was brilliant in the morning, using four birdies to power an even-par, 71. In the afternoon, he shot a 3-over-par, 74. Currently, he's tied for 23^rd place with a 3-over-par, 71-74-145.

Graduate student Andres Acevedo (San Antonio, Texas) used 15 pars to shoot a 1-over-par, 72, in round one. In round two, he shot a 4-over-par, 75. Through two rounds, Acevedo is tied for 34^th place with a 5-over-par, 72-75-147. Only one stroke behind Acevedo is senior Deven Ramachandran (San Rafael, Calf.). After a disappointing 7-over-par, 78, in round one, he collected six birdies in route to a 1-under-par, 70, in round two. For the tournament, Ramachandran is tied for 39^th with a 6-over-par, 78-70-148.

Rounding out the Pirate scoring was freshman Angus O'Brien (Barwon Heads, Australia). Like Ramachandran, the Pirate newcomer had a 7-over-par, 78, in round one, but improved dramatically in the afternoon. O'Brien had three birdies on his way to a 2-over-par, 73. For the tournament, he is 9-over-par with a 78-73-151.

The Course:
The Four Streams Club is the first signature design in the United States from the renowned Price/Smyers Golf Course Design Group. The course is inspired by some of the world's best courses and holes. Mr. Price combines his playing talents with the architectural expertise of Steve Smyers, architect of Chart Hills (England) recently named the number one inland course in the British Isles, Old Memorial and Southern Dunes (Florida) and Wolf Run (Indiana). The greens, tees and fairways feature a new type bentgrass that will ensure superb playing conditions year round. The course is set on rolling land with visual drama from many vantage points.

Four Streams is located on a 300-acre parcel located in the Agricultural Reserve in Montgomery County, Maryland. Four Streams is ranked as one of the top 10 courses in Maryland by Golf Digest and one of the "World's Top 1,000 Golf Courses" by Rolex. In addition, the course has been awarded a Top Golf Architecture Award for Outstanding Design in Maryland.

The Field:
In addition to Seton Hall and host Georgetown, the field includes 10 other schools: Binghamton, Campbell, Delaware, Gonzaga, Howard, Loyola (Md.), Navy, Rhode Island, St. Joseph's and William & Mary.

The Format:
Teams will play five golfers and count the four lowest scores per round.

Schedule:
The field will play two continuous rounds (36 holes) beginning with an 8:00 a.m. shotgun start on Monday. On Tuesday, a single final round will be played with again a shotgun start at 8:00 a.m.
