
Tait Leading Pirates After Two Rounds at Georgetown

BEALLSVILLE, MD. – Graduate student Gregor Tait (Martlesham Heath, England) is 2-under-par through two rounds and has help lift the Seton Hall men's golf team to a seventh-place tie at the Georgetown Intercollegiate entering Monday's final round.

Tait had six birdies in round one, finishing with a 1-over-par, 72, but in the afternoon, he shaved four strokes off his score using five birdies and 11 pars to fuel a 3-under-par, 68. Entering Monday's final round, Tait is tied for eighth place out of 65 individual golfers with a 2-under-par, 72-68-140. He trails the individual leader, Loyola's Brandon Berry, by nine strokes.

As a team, The Hall shot a 9-over-par, 293, in round one, but shaved off eight strokes to finish with a 1-over-par, 285, in round two. The Pirates are currently tied for seventh with Rhode Island with a 10-over-par, 293-285-578. Loyola s running away with the team title at 19-under-par, 20 strokes ahead of second-place Howard University. Host Georgetown is currently one stroke ahead of the Pirates in sixth place at 9-over-par.

Sophomore Wanxi Sun (Danville, Calif.) was brilliant in the morning, using four birdies to power an even-par, 71. In the afternoon, he shot a 3-over-par, 74. Currently, he's tied for 23rd place with a 3-over-par, 71-74-145.

Graduate student Andres Acevedo (San Antonio, Texas) used 15 pars to shoot a 1-over-par, 72, in round one. In round two, he shot a 4-over-par, 75. Through two rounds, Acevedo is tied for 34th place with a 5-over-par, 72-75-147. Only one stroke behind Acevedo is senior Deven Ramachandran (San Rafael, Calf.). After a disappointing 7-over-par, 78, in round one, he collected six birdies in route to a 1-under-par, 70, in round two. For the tournament, Ramachandran is tied for 39th with a 6-over-par, 78-70-148.

Rounding out the Pirate scoring was freshman Angus O'Brien (Barwon Heads, Australia). Like Ramachandran, the Pirate newcomer had a 7-over-par, 78, in round one, but improved dramatically in the afternoon. O'Brien had three birdies on his way to a 2-over-par, 73. For the tournament, he is 9-over-par with a 78-73-151.

Teams will play five golfers and count the four lowest scores per round.

The field will play two continuous rounds (36 holes) beginning with an 8:00 a.m. shotgun start on Monday. On Tuesday, a single final round will be played with again a shotgun start at 8:00 a.m.Â
