Newark, N.J. - Wednesday represents another opportunity for the Seton Hall men's basketball team. The Pirates are facing DePaul in a game that the Pirates need to continue their March towards their NCAA Tournament goal.Â
A win over the Blue Demons would secure the Pirates a 10th BIG EAST victory, which would mean The Hall will finish the season with a winning conference record (looks like a maximum of 19 games played) and will reach double-digit conference wins for only the 11th time in program history.
A win, however, won't come easy against a DePaul squad that is much more talented than its record indicates. Javon Freeman-Liberty is enjoying a great season with averages of 13.4 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.9 assists. And Seton Hall's three-point shooting does not favorably match up against a Blue Demons squad that is number one in the BIG EAST in three-point defense. Opponents are making just 30 percent of their three-point attempts against DePaul. Only once in the last eight games has DePaul allowed over 70 points.
Seton Hall will look to continue to get good play out of Myles Cale and Jared Rhoden. Cale is averaging 12.0 points in five career starts against the Blue Demons, and Rhoden is averaging 14.0 points and 6.7 rebounds in his last three starts vs. DePaul.
Wednesday's game will be televised nationally on FS1 with the Js Joe Davis and Jim Jackson serving as broadcasters. Gary Cohen and Dave Popkin will have the radio call on WMCA 570 AM, simulcast on XM 384, the Pirate Sports Network and TuneIn.
