
Pirates Set for Rutherford Intercollegiate This Weekend

STATE COLLEGE, PA. - The Seton Hall men's golf team will return to action, April 17-18, for three rounds of golf at the 2021 Rutherford Intercollegiate, hosted by Penn State University.

In this 6,000 sq. ft. facility you'll find a complete Golf Shop filled with the latest in quality golf equipment and merchandise. Let our golf professionals share with you their expertise and answer any of your questions. Next to the Golf Shop is The Nineteenth Hole Cafe. This snack area offers a variety of food and snacks for a quick bite or a relaxing meal. The Cafe's open dining area overlooks the courses and provides the perfect compliments to a round of golf.

THE FIELD:
In addition to Seton Hall and host Penn State, the field features 12 other teams including: Bowling Green, Dayton, Eastern Kentucky, George Mason, James Madison, Kent State, Loyola (Md.), Maryland, Oakland and Rutgers. Two additional BIG EAST competitors are also in the field, Connecticut and Georgetown.

The Seton Hall Lineup:
Senior Andres Acevedo (San Antonio, Texas) fired a 1-under-par, 71, to lift the Seton Hall men's golf team to a 12th place finish at the Craft Farms Intercollegiate on March 30. Acevedo was brilliant during the final round, suffering just one blemish, a bogey on the par-4, No. 11 hole. He had two birdies and a team-best 15 pars for his second sub-par round of the season and the 11th of his career in tournament play.

For the three-day event, Acevedo finished tied for 22nd place among 75 individual golfers with a 5-over-par, 78-72-71-221.Â

As a team, Seton Hall shot a 22-over-par, 310, on March 30, and finished in 12th place with a 47-over-par, 306-295-310-911 for the tournament.

LAST TIME AT RUTHERFORD:
Gregor Tait (Martlesham Heath, England) shot an even-par, 71, in the final round to lift the Pirates to a fifth-place team finish at the 2019 Rutherford Intercollegiate. Tait finished tied for 28th place with his second straight even-par, 71, in round three. For the tournament, he was 7-over-par with a 78-71-71-220.

The top Pirate for the tournament was Chris Yeom, who shot a 2-over-par, 73, in the final round to finish in 16th place among 78 individual golfers. For the three-round event, he was 4-over-par with a 73-71-73-217.Â

As a team, the Pirates finished with a 21-over-par, 295-288-290-873. They finished 18 strokes behind the team champion, Penn State. Seton Hall soundly defeated its lone BIG EAST competition. Georgetown finished in 12th place, 22 strokes behind the Pirates.

Seton Hall's best performance at Penn State came in 2014 when they finished second at 20-over-par.

FORMAT / TEE TIMES:
The field will play two rounds on Saturday with tee times beginning at 7:30 a.m. off the first and 10th tees. Final round tee times will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday.
